Honesty, attention to detail, multitasking, and several others that you might find surprising
We know how important it is that our employees are strong in soft skills, so we consider them alongside other skills during interviews. Read on about the soft skills that we value the most.
Friendliness
We cannot force all the employees in the company to be friends with one another, but people should always act with respect and understanding. At Gameteq, we do our best to treat each other with impartiality, as we do our friends, and sometimes that means letting go of minor differences, just as friends do.
Teamwork skills
Every department in a company is a cog in a big machine. Unless all the cogs work in unison, the machine will not make a great end product. That's why we sometimes have to let go of our own opinions or ideas and listen to others so that the company can reach its goals.
Honesty
If we notice that something has gone wrong, we don't skirt the issue — we speak out right away. We believe that any issue must be considered openly within the team where it occurs.
Attention to detail
We know that if a product has been made without proper care and attention, it simply cannot make people happy or be worthwhile. Who would be interested in playing a game with buttons that don't work or links that lead nowhere?
Perfectionism within reason
Striving for perfection is admirable. However, in our field with tight deadlines and mad sprints, the "good enough" principle has its place, too. We are aware of what's enough to reach a good result. We know where we should stop so that the job is performed efficiently but no one gets burnt out.
Multitasking
We work on several games at once, so we have to be able to switch between them, if necessary. You might be working on your own project today, then step in for your ill colleague tomorrow, and return to your own tasks the following day. If you cannot switch back and forth between topics without losing concentration, it will be difficult to get used to this kind of work rhythm.
Clear communication
Our colleagues are not mind readers, and the processes in the company are complex and involve a lot of people. We do our best to make sure that the information we are passing on to the next participant in the chain is as comprehensive and clear as possible.
An interest in games
It's very difficult to work as an analyst, or a tester, or a copywriter, if reading game documentation and puzzling out game mechanics is a real torture for you. We try to hire people who love game development. However, even if an employee is a far cry from being a fan of computer and mobile games, they must have a motivation and a desire to delve into the subject.
A sense of humor
Last but not least! No one can spend their whole working life fully focused on tasks or constantly consumed by negativity, especially when they have complicated tasks to do or if the workload for a sprint increases.
Do you see all these soft skills in yourself? Perhaps you could be our future colleague!
You don't? Don't worry! You surely have other, equally useful skills that could come in handy at Gameteq :)
